Our guest speaker is life-long resident Bruce Sliker\, former Mayor\, Air Force veteran\, Grange member\, pilot and all around good guy. \nWhen asked to speak at our storytelling event\, Bruce replied\, “What am I going to talk about?” His daughter told him\, “Anything! You’re one of the oldest around that grew up here.” \nSo\, come listen to Bruce talk about the airport in his yard\, getting kicked off the school bus and other shenanigans he and his brothers did to the point it’s a surprise they survived childhood. \nStorytelling links us to our past and provides a glimpse into our future. We use storytelling as a way to pass down customs\, history and heritage. Through our events\, we pay tribute to the early beginnings of our community so future generations can continue the legacy. Come listen to stories\, learn\, and maybe even share YOUR family stories of life in Lebanon Township. It’s a chance to recall a moment from your life or just listen to some good stories!

DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, August 14\, 2024 Chris Carter will present a demonstration and talk sharing her recent passion for creating fabric dyes\, inks and watercolor pigments from locally foraged plants. Chris is a full-time artist. She travels extensively to explore the world with pen and brush. She teaches art workshops in both the United States and Wales focused on understanding color\, sketching\, watercolor techniques and nurturing one’s inner artist. Her experience creating pigments and fabric dyes from plants she forages has greatly expanded her color palette and her appreciation for even the most subtle changes in the landscape as the seasons cycle through the year. Our guest speaker is life-long resident Bruce Sliker\, former Mayor\, Air Force veteran\, Grange member\, pilot and all around good guy. \nWhen asked to speak at our storytelling event\, Bruce replied\, “What am I going to talk about?” His daughter told him\, “Anything! You’re one of the oldest around that grew up here.” \nSo\, come listen to Bruce talk about the airport in his yard\, getting kicked off the school bus and other shenanigans he and his brothers did to the point it’s a surprise they survived childhood. \nStorytelling links us to our past and provides a glimpse into our future. We use storytelling as a way to pass down customs\, history and heritage. Through our events\, we pay tribute to the early beginnings of our community so future generations can continue the legacy. Come listen to stories\, learn\, and maybe even share YOUR family stories of life in Lebanon Township. It’s a chance to recall a moment from your life or just listen to some good stories!
